The official notification for RRB ALP Recruitment (CEN 01/2025) has concluded its application phase, and the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has now shifted focus to the examination schedule. A total of 9,970 vacancies for Assistant Loco Pilot posts are being filled in this cycle.
As of late January 2026, the board has confirmed the specific dates for the first stage of the selection process.

🎓 Eligibility Criteria (CEN 01/2025)
To be eligible for the Assistant Loco Pilot position, candidates must meet the following technical and physical standards:
Candidates must have:
- 10th Pass + ITI in relevant trade
OR - Diploma / Degree in Engineering (relevant discipline)
- Educational Qualification: * Matriculation/SSLC PLUS ITI from recognized institutions of NCVT/SCVT in relevant trades (Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, Automobile, etc.).
- Age Limit (as of July 1, 2025): * 18 to 30 Years (General/EWS).
- Relaxation: OBC-NCL (3 years), SC/ST (5 years).
- Medical Standard: Must meet A-1 Medical Standards.
- Distance Vision: 6/6, 6/6 without glasses with fogging test.
- Near Vision: Sn: 0.6, 0.6 without glasses.
- Must pass tests for Color Vision, Binocular Vision, Field of Vision, and Night Vision.
📝 Selection Process & Exam Pattern
The recruitment follows a comprehensive five-stage selection process:
RRB ALP recruitment generally includes:

3️⃣ CBAT (Aptitude Test)
4️⃣ Document Verification
5️⃣ Medical Examination
- CBT 1 (Screening): 75 Questions | 60 Minutes. Covers Maths, Reasoning, Science, and GK.
- CBT 2 (Merit): * Part A: 100 Qs | 90 Mins (Maths, Reasoning, Basic Science & Engg). This part determines your merit.
- Part B: 75 Qs | 60 Mins (Trade-specific). This is qualifying in nature (35% required).
- CBAT (Aptitude Test): Only for those who clear CBT 2. No negative marking in this stage.
- Document Verification (DV).
- Medical Examination.
Negative Marking: For both CBT 1 and CBT 2 (Part A), there is a negative marking of 1/3rd (0.33) mark for every incorrect answer.
